Permissions and disconnecting
What each connected tool lets Nudge do, in plain words, who can connect tools, and how to disconnect or revoke access.
Who can connect tools
| Action | Permission needed | Default roles |
|---|---|---|
| Open Integrations, connect or disconnect calendars and video tools, set up Slack and pixels | Connect/disconnect integrations (Calendar, Zoom, etc.) | Admin |
| Create, pause or delete webhooks | Manage API keys & webhooks (plus access to Integrations) | Admin |
An Admin can grant these permissions to other roles in Settings › Team. See Team and roles.
Calendar and video connections are personal: each one belongs to the member who made it, and meetings are created with that member's account. Members who signed in to Nudge with Google or Microsoft connected their calendar at sign-in, even if their role cannot open the Integrations page.
Slack, webhooks and pixels belong to the workspace: one setting applies to everyone.
What each connection allows
The access is fixed by Nudge's app at each provider. You cannot choose a narrower or wider set in Nudge; the connect dialog lists it under Access, and the tool page shows how many permissions are requested.
Google (Calendar, Meet, Gmail cards)
| Permission requested | What Nudge does with it |
|---|---|
| Create and edit events in your calendars | Creates the event of each meeting booked with you, with its Meet link and brief; updates or removes it when the meeting is rescheduled or cancelled. |
| Read your free/busy times | Removes your busy times from the slots offered. Free/busy returns time ranges only, without titles or details. |
| Read the list of your calendars | Lets you pick which calendar to read availability from and which to write meetings to. |
Nudge also receives your basic Google profile (name, email address) to match the account with your Nudge user. Nudge does not ask for access to your Gmail mailbox.
Microsoft (Outlook, Teams cards)
| Permission requested | What Nudge does with it |
|---|---|
| Read and write your calendars | Reads busy and tentative times to remove them from your slots; writes, updates and removes the meetings booked with you. |
| Create online meetings | Creates the Teams meeting of each booking. |
Nudge also receives your basic profile (name, email address) and keeps access while you are not using Nudge, so meetings can be booked at any time.
Zoom
| Permission requested | What Nudge does with it |
|---|---|
| Create meetings | Creates a scheduled Zoom meeting under your account for each booking you host. |
| Read your user profile | Identifies the Zoom user the meetings are created for. |
Slack
Slack uses an incoming webhook. It can only post messages into the one channel you chose when creating it. Nudge cannot read channels, messages or members.
Pixels and webhooks
- Pixel tokens (Meta Conversions API) let Nudge send events to your dataset. They are write-only: once saved, they are never shown again, in the app or anywhere else.
- Webhook signing secrets are shown once, right after creation.
- Slack webhook URLs are write-only too.
How connections stay alive
Nudge renews provider access automatically in the background, so you connect once. A connection stops working if:
- you revoke Nudge's access at the provider,
- your organization's administrator removes the app,
- the provider expires the authorization (for example after a long period without use).
When that happens, Nudge can no longer read your busy times or create meetings for you. Reconnect from the tool's page: click Disconnect, then Connect again.
Disconnect a tool
| Tool | How to disconnect | What it affects |
|---|---|---|
| Google, Microsoft, Zoom | Tool page › Disconnect (header or provider card) | Only your connection. Busy times are no longer read and new meetings are no longer written or given a link for you. Existing events and links stay. |
| Slack | Slack page › switch off › Save settings | Stops all Slack messages. The URL stays stored until you replace it. |
| Webhook | Integrations › Zapier › switch off, or Delete | Pausing keeps the webhook; deleting is immediate and final. |
| Pixel or container | Pixels and tags › switch off, or Delete | Deleting stops reporting and deletes its activity counters. |
Google and Microsoft each use one connection for calendar, video and the Gmail or Outlook card. Disconnecting one of these cards disconnects all of them for you.
Signing in to Nudge with Google or Microsoft asks for the same calendar access. If you sign in that way after disconnecting, your calendar can be connected again.
Revoke access at the provider
Disconnecting in Nudge deletes the stored access on Nudge's side. To also remove Nudge from the provider's list of apps:
- Google: your Google Account › Security › Your connections to third-party apps & services › AskNudge › remove access.
- Microsoft: your Microsoft account (or My Apps for a work account) › Apps and services or App permissions › AskNudge › remove.
- Zoom: Zoom App Marketplace › Manage › Added Apps › remove.
- Slack: remove the incoming webhook from your Slack app configuration.
If you revoke access at the provider without disconnecting in Nudge, the tool page may still show Connected while nothing works. Disconnect in Nudge too.
